Pearl Cove Library is all set to host its first Human Living Library!
Our staff are excited to create a FREE learning experience for Autism Awareness Week.
Attendance by booking only.

What is a Human Living Library?

The Living  Library was first brought to life in 2000 in Copenhagen. The concept is to create a completely open environment where people can share, and be questioned about their personal experiences. A guest can 'borrow' a person for around 30 minutes to have a private conversation through which they can learn about issues that may be difficult to learn about on their own.

By using these personal resources, the community has the opportunity to learn about their neighbours in a completely unique way.

By hosting this event, we can create the chance to educate on things that may be socially awkward topics, or not within our immediate thought process to consider important. We aim to bring the community closer together, and help to destroy the barriers that can easily be adjusted through this simple act of understanding.

Pearl Cove Library aims to bring awareness to our community about the concept of autism, and to help humanize those afflicted with this spectrum of disability.

We work towards eliminating misunderstandings, and mystery, through the lives of our 'books'.
