Role Rethink
Ladies, has anyone ever told you that you can’t do something that
you think you can? Or worse, that you wouldn’t be suited… because of your
gender?
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Pearl Cove Library,
in conjunction with Pearl Cove Girls Highschool, would like to invite Year 10
girls to attend our Human Library Event.
You as the ‘reader’ will choose a person – a human ‘book’ – to
have a conversation with. Come and chat with any of our 12 female books, all of
whom are working in a profession that outdated stereotypes still consider the
domain of males. How have they coped with their friend’s, family’s and colleague’s
resistance to their career/lifestyle choice? Ask them! How have they managed to
thrive in their individual work environments? Ask them!
