In recognition of OCD and Anxiety Disorder week, Pearl Cove Library is hosting a Human Library event for adolescents (12 - 18 years old).

What is a Human Library Event?

A Human Library is an event in which people can borrow a human 'book' for a set amount of time and have an open dialogue conversation, so the prejudice and stigma surrounding mental health can be reduced.

What are we offering?

At our Human Library Event we have 7 books who live with OCD and Anxiety Disorders and or have experience involving mental health. These books can be borrowed for 25-minute discussions where you, as the reader, can talk about anything that plagues your mind surrounding OCD and Anxiety Disorders.

Vegetarian catering and refreshments will be provided!

Meet our books!

Greg Inglis - Indigenous NRL Star who has had a public battle with anxiety and depression.

Julia Gillard - Former Australian Prime Minister and chairperson of Beyond Blue.

Matthew Dawson - Local high school counsellor

Aloy Brennan - Liaison from mental health organisation HeadSpace

Ronit Jones - Psychologist

Ronan Smith - Young adult living with different anxiety disorders

Paulina Bollard - Local nurse at a mental health ward

We understand how much confidentiality is crucial when discussing sensitive topics like mental health. So, we have created a Safe Space for adolescents to openly talk about their anxiety disorders, with the assurance that all conversations will be held within a secure environment.

We hope to see you there!
