Orange For Multiculturalism

Pearl Cove library is holding a special event for the up and coming Harmony day. A human library event celebrating all kind of cultures that Australia is home to. Food and beverages provided by the library. 






What is a human library  you may ask? A human library is when the books are humans and the readers can borrow the 'book' and ask questions pertaining to what the book is there about. For more information about living libraries as a whole at https://humanlibrary.org/






Harmony Day is a celebration of multiculturalism that started on March 21st 1999. The colour of harmony is orange which is seen as agreeable and meaningful communication. For more information about harmony day in Australia as a whole at https://www.harmony.gov.au/about



In honour of celebrating multiculturalism there are eight books available for borrowing from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and ages:
Dr G.K Harinath OAM; advisory board member of multicultural NSW Indian ethnic background male
Cristina Talacko; advisory board member of multicultural NSW Brazilian ethnic background female
Omar Lamar; middle aged Syrian ethnic background male
Ai Belford;  young adult Chinese ethnic background female
Kai Sattler; young adult Maori Indigenous Polynesian ethnic background male
Iluka Richardson; elder Indigenous Aboriginal ethnic background male
Bethany McGill; Pearl Cove multi-cultural reference group Irish ethnic background female
Alana Des; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural committee Torres Strait Islander ethnic background female
