Celebrate Us As Art

* INDIVIDUALLY CRAFTED *

Harmony Day is a day for all Australians to celebrate our cultural diversity and to learn from one another about what makes us who we are. So why not come celebrate Pearl Cove's diverse community in a new way with our Human Living Libraries event.

Our event, Individually Crafted, gives you the opportunity to sit down and have a conversation with someone who you wouldn't normally cross paths within your day-to-day life. All of our 'Living Books' are people who have volunteered themselves to represent a stigmatised group within a community. Our 10 volunteers have all found themselves dabbling at some point during their life in the creative arts in some way shape or form. Whether it be how they have overcome, or how they are learning to overcome the setbacks in the different fields of the creative industry. Or how they have embraced their culture and heritage in a way that lets them showcase their artform, whether physical or intangible, to the wider community.

Among our 10 volunteers are:
  •  Andy: an Indigenous Australian mural artist,
  • Cassandra: a Syrian photographer,
  • Jordan: a dancer with Sydney Dance Company
  • Terry: a music teacher of many years.

Listen and talk to them about how they have overcome difficulties and embraced and celebrated their creativity and artforms.
