The Pearl Cove Library is proud to invite you to celebrate the community and its people for National Loneliness Day. Loneliness affects more than half of the Australian population and is most prevalent in three stages:

    • Late teens and early 20s
    • The mid-50s
    • And early 80s

This event aspires to remove the stigma surrounding those affected by loneliness whilst bringing together the community to create or renew friendships between people.

What is a Human Library?

Human Libraries are a great way to reduce prejudice, break down barriers within a community. This concept presents people with a safe environment to converse with those within their wider community and better understand other peoples life experiences.

Event attendees can ‘borrow’ a book and ask questions, thus helping them challenge their assumptions and develop a greater understanding of each other's stories.
