Did you also know that 7.8% of the population of Pearl Cove are made up of residents from war torn countries such as Syria and Iran?

Both of these countries hold one of the largest populations of refugees. There are 6.6 million million refugees in Syria alone. Syria's refugee crisis remains the world's largest refugee displacement crisis of our time. Pearl Cove prides itself on their commitment to becoming a Refugee Welcome Zone for refugees from Iran and Syria. Pearl Cove Library will be celebrating Refugee Week (20th June-26 June) by holding the first ever Humans Library event featuring Syrian and Iranian Refugee residents from our own community. Lets drop the stigma with refugees and make them feel welcome into our community by listening to their stories and having meaningful conversations. Get to know your neighbours and join in the Refugee Week Humans Library event.

Don't know what a Humans Library event is?

Ever wanted to ask questions about what the life of a refugee is like but were to scared to ask or just haven't got the chance to ? With our humans library event you can do just that. A humans library event is where you as the 'reader' get to 'borrow' people as 'books' for a specific set of time and have a meaningful discussion in that time frame to ask all of your pressing questions. We have 4 interesting titles for readers to choose from and 20 minutes of borrowing time.
