While often asked as an innocent question from curious strangers, this simple micro aggression can make people of marginalised groups feel excluded and unwanted from a society that they are proud members of.
As part of Pearl Cove’s Harmony Day celebrations, the Pearl Cove Library will be hosting a Human Library event where you can borrow “books” – real life members of your community from minority groups and different racial backgrounds – and have a chance to have meaningful conversation with someone different to yourself.
This event aims to celebrate racial diversity, harmony and social cohesion, and understand and break stereotypes of people of colour.
Open to all, this free event will be held on Saturday, 20th of March 2021 from 11am-3pm in the Pearl Room at Pearl Cove Library. Bookings essential!
Please call or text Event Co-ordinator David McClement on 0489 632 258 to book or see one of our friendly staff at Pearl Cove Library.
