R U OK? The Human Library for suicide prevention
They are not for profit organisations who aim to raise awareness
on suicide prevention
Pearl Cove library is organizing a similar event to commemorate
this occasion through the Living Library, where volunteers come as a
resource to interact with people as Living Books.
Come and participate in this Pearl Cove
library initiative and interact with them to understand and support
mental health.Our human books include
an indigenous elder who has mentored Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
people who are recovering from suicide attempts, a psychologist who has worked
with mental health services such s Youth Beyond Blue (Youth Beyond Blue,
n.d.), a person who is 12-24 years old who made a suicide attempt and survived,
and a parent whose son or daughter died during their time at high school. or
university via suicide.
When and where
Time: 11am-4 pm
Date: 12th September, 2019.
Place: Pearl Cove library
Bookings essential: Eventbrite by 15 August, 2019
Free event, Light refreshments with Tea/Coffee
Information booklets and pamphlets provided throughout the event.
