Purpose of this Event
Pearl Cove Library would like to celebrate International Women's Day to honour the social,
political, historical, professional and personal achievements of women in the local community of
Pearl Cove. We welcome all ladies to come in and meet other culturally diverse women in Pearl
Cove. This event is an opportunity to hear some stories of Human Living Books during a warm
evening in a friendly atmosphere at Pearl Room adjacent to Pearl Cove Library.
Human Living Books
1.
Sarah is a 35-year-old single mother and a primary school teacher in Pearl
Cove.
She
would share her stories of juggling responsibilities of caring for her five-year-old
son and working as a primary school teacher.
2. Alia
is a 24-year-old young Australian woman of Indian background who is an
engineer.
She
would share her stories as a young female engineer working in a male-dominated
profession.
3.
Nasima is a 47-year-old woman from Iran who would express the challenges and
experiences of motherhood.
4.
Sushmita is a 38-year-old qualified Bangladeshi doctor who has studied in the
United Kingdom would share her experiences of working as a female general
practitioner in Australia.
5.
Aynoor is a 29-year-old Pakistani woman who would share her stories of being a
victim of domestic violence. She aims to encourage women to understand that
domestic violence is a serious issue, and they need to speak up and seek help.
Day and Time: Monday 8th of March 2021, 5pm to 8pm
Location / venue: Pearl Cove Library
Pearl Room located adjacent to the library
Suitable for females 15 years and over
Free parking and disabled access are available
