Date: Saturday 17/02/18
Time: 11am – 3pm
Location: Pearl Room – Pearl Cove Library, 24 Beach Street Pearl Cove
Celebrate the diversity of our community this Valentine’s
Day at Pearl Cove Library.
We are holding a human living libraries event where
members of the community can chat with a “human book”; a
resident of Pearl Cove with a story to share. Human living libraries events are
held worldwide and give attendees a valuable opportunity to speak to people
with very different experiences to their own and gain a new perspective. More
information about the concept can be found at http://humanlibrary.org/about-the-human-library/
.
In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, all of our human books
will be speaking about love. Our human books include a disability activist, an
Indigenous Elder, a couple in an arranged marriage, a local lesbian, a refugee,
and a senior citizen. Attendees can reserve a 15 minute session with the book/s
of their choice when they arrive at the event.
This event is free and light refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
LOVE the love theme!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and nicely explained and written. I love the coupling of the diversity and multiculturalism and love... unusual. Normally multiculturalism has descended into a sort of apathetic "by the book" practice...
